Julie Thelwall
Julie is on sabbatical for the first 2 terms of 2025 and we look forward to welcoming her back Week 2 in Term 3.
Mrs Thelwall is our unique, fantastic principal. She is passionate about many things like her job and music - you always find her with a guitar in her hand. She is encouraging and always treats everyone with respect which makes her easy to get along with. Mrs Thelwall puts in a lot of effort to keep the school running smoothly but she does it in a laid back way. We think she is really funny because she does a crazy knock on our class door before entering! She is an outstanding mathematician who is always smiling and happy.

Lara Smith
Lara is our Acting Principal until Julie returns in Term 3.
Mrs Smith is our classroom teacher and is very passionate about learning. She pushes us to do our best and sets us up with life skills that we will carry with us.
She is creative and likes to be organised. She loves buying stickers and things for our class from Temu.
Mrs Smith is quite short and often wears platform shoes to be as tall as some of us.
She is funny and has a great sense of humour. We love it when she brings Pipi her dog into the classroom.

Rose Hay
Miss Hay has a really big friendly smile and a kind heart and we know this because she always makes us feel welcome and also makes us feel like we fit in Rūma Toru. Our teacher is really supportive when we are stuck or confused on an activity. She is really smart and can solve hard maths equations and explains things really well.
Miss Hay is hardworking, she has been teaching for over forty years. One of her favourite things is to plan camps and trips that we go on, she sorts out the tents and groups for things. Another things she is good at is gardening and cooking. She cooks the things that she helps us grow with us in the school kitchen.
Miss Hay is a good farmer, she takes Farm Club on adventures like bush walks and river walks. She also takes us to clean the troughs on the farm and organises us to go to the Camerons farm to drench the school cattle.
